WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you boost in specific statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

Upgraded gear generally sees higher trade value as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as valuable for those with higher variance due to the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item level upgrade used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the Item level upgrade, however they'll always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, tools, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased from item upgrades upgraders NPCs for Item Level Upgrade various currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor with an button, which will display an image of the item when it is upgraded if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the item slot, and the current item level. For instance weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currencies.

Many locations offer item upgraders in addition to the main island and item level Upgrade a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades are acquired via several methods, which is both an improvement and a drawback.

Crests

Players have several options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrade level upgrades. Crests are a crucial element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests can only be used on gear of a specific rank, and that each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. The most basic and straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complicated can require as much as 20 crests based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by working through tasks at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of any difficulty to earn lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. The crests can later be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.

Using these new currencies isn't too difficult, but the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, when an item is at the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest ilvl possible for all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests with care, since they are only used for one purpose. It is recommended to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the best gear you can locate, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The discount for the entire account is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
